This week/month is all about new outlet launches. It’s my 3rd club launch this week alone after coming back from that non-alco free homestay week. Oh wait, It’s Deepavali today too so Happy Deepavali to all my Hindu friends!! May the light shine in your lives always.

What I love about festivals in Malaysia is that everyone celebrates it, no matter race or religion. That means all of us get to go to open houses and makan & tani all we like. There were a few houses to choose but it was all around the same lunch time so went to RV’s. Quite a sizable crew was there – Khabs & Shehnaz, Effa, GB, Sim, Glee and of course our usual Sniper Crew.

Came back, made my 8th batch of tuak and decided to head off to town for the launch of YTL’s new club, Rootz, located next to Teeq Brasserie.

Trust YTL to make it an event to remember. They really are generous when it comes to their launches. Just like their Teeq launch, it was free flow of champagne, wine, beer and a ridiculous assortment of cocktails that lasted throughout the night. It was still flowing when I left at 3am.

The club’s pretty poshy, complimenting their fancy Teeq outlet next door. They had an overseas DJ (didn’t remember who though, but was good), the Latino boys on percussions who performed at Teeq and sexy podium dances too.

Couldn’t find Tiffany but bumped into Victor & Joyce instead.

What is this? New outlet launches month? After the wonderful opening at Teeq Brasserie, it's on to another new, well, not so new place in Plaza TTDI. It's the opening of Public Service, the centre court area where the old place was.

Deco didn't change much, basically just the name & management but who's complaining when there's free flow to savour?

Got there a bit late cause was stuck in a bloody KL traffic jam but got there in time anyway to enjoy my fair share of the booze.

Won't post many pics coz the pics are from Deep and he'll review the pad in his blog.

Headed back to - where else? Our favourite friendly local water hole, Sid's Pub, with the crew for some more post drinks after the free flow stopped.

Think I had enough of the kampung life for now so I jumped at the chance to attend YTL's new pad launch Teeq Brasserie which is located on top of Lot 10. Deep was the invitee, I was the luggage.

The place is really poshy. It lights up beautifully, something like the KLPAC grounds. Trust YTL to do it well. View's not that great coz of the buildings but you could see the twin towers & KL Tower so ok la.. And met Abby of all people at the launch! Awesome!

YTL's really generous with their drinks. there were bubblies (mumms), wine, beer and a HUGE variety of cocktails. We knocked ourselves out. They had good canapes too and really cute burgers :)

AirAsia Launches KL – Colombo

Today’s the day we finally get down to business and officially celebrate AirAsia’s daily direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Colombo. Tony arrived earlier for interviews with the Media which we kindly obliged. Tony’s his charming, articulate self as usual. Always a pleasure to talk to the man. Asked him why he was bold in having daily flights instead of the normal 3x a week flights they usually do for new markets and he replied, “Well, if you can’t make a direct flight work, my as well not have a flight to that destination at all.” Way to go Tony. That’s the Malaysian spirit. Ok ok I’m a fan of the man. Moving along..

They opened with some Malaysian cultural dance and had a dynamic Sri Lankan drum performance later. Our Malaysian cultural troupe paled in comparison. Sigh.. Oh, wrote my first news piece and sent it in. Hope they use it!

It was time for shopping so Dana brought us to Odel, a departmental store in Colombo. They don’t have many shopping malls, only 2 small ones so departmental stores are the next best thing. Building was interesting. An old converted colonial mansion. Shopping wise? Nothing that great. Malaysia’s much better for shopping. Prices aren’t that cheap either. Bought loads of tea & elephant dung paper and Sri Lanka souvenirs like t-shirts & fridge magnets of course.

Air Asia brought us for dinner at another place tonight. Thank god, no more Indonesian food. It’s a lovely place at this old British mansion which they converted into Mount Lavinia Hotel. Really really lovely place. The guards were dressed in those olden days uniform as well, complete with the white hard hat & white shorts.

Diner area was called The Cove, a beautiful thatch hut built on the beach. It’s a market system, where you choose your seafood per gram and they cook it for you. Panduka, AirAsia Colombo staff, arrived and sorted our drinks out straight away. Really efficient. Food was a bit of a disappointment as the food was cold and Sri Lankan crabs were not in season but the great ambience and company made up for it.

As we quite tipsy from dinner, Dana suggested we head to the night club in Hotel Galahari, just down the road from our Hilton Hotel. It was Dana, me, Sheila, Ivan & Gareth. Night scene in Colombo is quite the pathetic. There was no one there at all except for us! We were the only ones conquering the dance floor. Had enough of Colombo night life so headed back to our hotel. So much for experiencing night life on a Tuesday night!

Day of Launches

I attended the ASUS Eee PC launch in the afternoon as I was interested in getting a sleek little netbook for myself. Was hoping for a Media discount of sorts. I'm hooked. Please, please come back to me with a good discount.

Did some exercise by walking all around Curve, Ikea & Ikano in search of a digital weighing scale. Did you know the scales cost bout RM150 or so??? I know the normal ones cost RM19.90 at Watsons so I didn't expect the digital version to cost so much! Found a nice one at Fitness Concept but decided to hold on to see if I could get one at a cheaper price.

Rushed off to Deep's house cause he said the Solution Vodka launch (Russian vodka) starts at 7pm. Was me, Deep, Max, Henry, Khang and Farah as the driver in her lovely spacious Toyota Rush.

Arrived at 7.30pm after enduring the friday jam to town. Venue was at Le Blanc at Heritage Row. Was deserted when we got there so we created our own party first. Drinks were on the house so no issues there.

They had Orange, Lemon, Original and Peppermint flavour. Lemon & orange are nice. Can't really taste the original but peppermint sucked. And that was the bottle they gave away. Vodka goes down smooth- like all Russian ones do.

Party was alright.. they had a hip hop show & all. Been a long time since I grooved to hip hop. We left the club early.. at midnight! cause we started early. Ben followed us back cause he got ditched by his colleague.

After party at Deep's where he treated us to his delicious maggie mee. Good quiet night with good friends without much drama.
