Awesome Thai Food at Erawan

Friday 28 August 2009

Carolynn called to say she wanted Thai dinner. Been craving that durian glutinous rice ever since I brought her to Erawan to meet Farshie & Marisa, a cosy little Thai place at Dataran Sunway, Kota Damansara. It's on the same row as a chinese rest opp Starbucks. It's a quiet row next to some wedding cake house thing.

The place is run by Anan & Korn, 2 Thai brothers (well, one is half Thai) and the place is personally decorated by them. Food is absolutely awesome! Been there 3 times already. Brought my parents there for the first try and service is really good.

He said we need to make reservations before we come cause his bro is the only cook and he doesn't want to dissapoint his customers with shody cooking and a long wait. Call them at +603 6141 2393. Real nice guy. Very sincere and helpful. Won't hesitate to sit down with you and explain every dish on his menu. His place is highly recommended but go during weekendays coz weekends are always full. There's shopping to be done there too.

Had the Miang Kham for appetizers - Thai spicy snacks, wrapped in bitter leaves. Was really nice & presentation was lovely too. Carolynn showed us how to wrap them. Fancy process.

Trying out the fascinating process of eating Miang Kham

Rest of our mains were all good as well

Prices not too bad either. Was RM152 for the four of us and we ate an appetizer, 3 mains (curry chicken, asparagus & fish cakes) & a dessert (durian glutinous rice which I absolutely detest. It stinks!)

Went to Library at Cineleisure later coz they wanted to check it out. Prices are expensive after happy hours but they have a good band and they do serve a good variety of drinks. Tried a Blackthorn Cider (RM26++ per bottle!) which tasted like fermented apple juice. That's what I get for being adventurous. Stuck to my Hoegaarden in the end.

Of Dyes & Thais

Saturday 27 June 2009

For the first time in my life, I hired a part-time maid to clean my place. Saw the ad in the lift. RM55 for 4 hours. Not a bad deal. Indonesian Intan was amazing! She came at 11.30am and left bout 4pm. Wiped, cleaned, swept, vacuum, mop, washed the toilet, even dismantled my fan to clean it! Damn pleased with her. Gave her RM60.

Oh, and I also decided to dye my hair black. Fucked it up a few times doing highlights at the salon so I went natural this time. A packet of black henna dye cost RM1.50 at Jasima, TTDI. I've never used powdered henna before so asked Intan for advice. She told me to mix it with a little bit of water till it becomes paste-like. Comb the dye into the hair from the roots until everything's finished. Wait to dry.

Adam Liew told me that it'll dry my hair so I left a hair mask on and it's soft as ever now! Cheapest RM1.50 hair job I ever did. Why didn't I discover this earlier???

Can't really see the change, but it's black!

Wasn't in town on Father's day so took my daddy out for a belated Father's Day dinner at June Thai, TTDI.

My daddy & I

Mum & Sis Edeleen. Raymond couldn't make it.

Ordered prawn salad, tau-fu, sesame chicken, kangkung belacan and tom yam. Food was quite tasty although a bit salty. Price is reasonable enough. They didn't have a wide variety of dessert choices so we ordered cendol & bubur cha cha.

Food wasn't bad too

Oh, & I just got a sms from Ivan's mum that I just became a grandma! Brandy just delivered 2 puppies. Not sure if she's done yet. Wooo hooooo!!!
