Yours Truly is now 30

Where have all the years flown to?? Seems like just yesterday that I was 23.. sigh.. yes, I've finally reached the big 3-0 and will it be downhill from now? Friends say 30 is the new 20 and age is just a number but I can already feel the effects. Recovery is not as fast as it used to.. but other than that, everything's like it always was.

I don't crave drinking and late night partyings like I used to in my 20s. Past birthdays have always been intimate dinners with the ones I love and this year was not going to be any different.

Horse riding is so darn expensive here. Seems like it's an activity for the rich so riding is not an often luxury. My birthday treat from Jerry was a gorgeous horse ride in the cool mountain air of Berjaya Hills.

Daddy's birthday is 2 days after mine so we always end up having one dinner and one cake. But I don't mind sharing coz I my Daddy's cool :P (and he doesn't give a damn really. I suspect he's pretending to make a fuss coz his family expects him too). Dinner was at Courtyard, Damansara Heights. Food was good, especially the mushroom pasta yummm!!!!

Told Wifey that I wanted to have dins with my close friends and she said ok, she'll arrange everything. And boy did she arrange! Such a sneak! She told me she was taking me to Murni in SS2 for dins and no one wants to come for my birthday except for Ninja her cat. We ended up at d'Italiane in Sunway Giza, Kota D, where she invited over 20 people! Talk about a pleasant surprise! I love my wifey Susan Tan.

TQ to Susan Tan, Edmund, Carolynn, Tyng Tyng, Redwan, Farshie, Jerry, Liara, Vern, Lilian, Deep, Henry, Max, Byron & Azim who made my 30th birthday such a memorable one. You guys are the best in the world. I am blessed to have such friends.

Susu, Farshi, Tyng Tyng & Carolynn got together and gave me the best birthday pressie ever - riding lessons at Bukit Kiara. Susu even got me a pink riding hat! I never felt so loved in my life. Had tears sneaking out as I hugged them. Susu, hat fits perfectly fine!

Continued the party at Boathouse in TTDI where Susu treated me & my astrological twin Azim to a flamin. Remind me never to mix wine, champagne & flamins ever again. Urgh... suffered whole of the next day for it.

Khang's birthday is on the 23 Oct while Ovidia's falls on the 25 October. The two housemates decided to celebrate their birthday together on the 24 Oct (fair mah..) and it was mayhem as usual at the BU pad.

Party started at 9pm, people kept on pouring in stages and party officially ended at 7am with the boys having bad cendol at the road side with the remaining zombies. I left at 5am :P Here's a few scenes from the party..

Today was dedicated to family and tortoises. Had lunch with the folks, went for a swim with birthday girl Farshie and went back to clean my pond. Stopped by the pet shop and found an interesting contraption – an automatic feeder that allows food out up to 6 times a day for up to 28 days. Great for when I’m not around. At least my little pets will not go hungry.

Took a while to figure it out but finally did. It has tiny pins where you can slot for feed time. It runs like a ticking clock. Hehe I know it’s nothing new but was fascinated by the device nonetheless.

It’s amazing what life creates when you leave something alone long enough. There’s a whole thriving eco system in my pond! Planted 2 stalks of ginkgo biloba in my filter and it’s a thick green jungle now! It was thriving on all the shit in the filter. Damn healthy and green wei.. I threw all of it away and starting all over again with 2 stalks. See how fast it grows this time.

There was plenty of moss on my water feature as well (old railway slippers) and I found 4 earthworms in there! God only knows how they ended there. Shifted them to my potted plants. Hope they do the earth there good. Sucked out all the shit from the pond (damn there was a whole LOAD of stinky shit). Since I was in cleaning mode, decided to check the fridge and found an onion plant growing there. Potted the thing. Threw out unknown specimens from the fridge too. Phew what a day.

Went over to Rasta after that to celebrate Farsha’s birthday. Su & Byron went to get an ice cream cake from Baskins and Farshie belanjaed us Yellow Cab pizza all the way from Ampang. For those who have never tried Yellow Cab, please try it. It’s one of the best pizzas in town. They deliver in cute yellow Vespa scooters too. Only set back is that their outlets are all the way in Ampang near Ampang Point and there’s one near Heritage Row in KL.

Ponteng kerja today! Well, not really ponteng.. told boss I was tired from my trip and she let me take the day off bless her. It's the last day of the week anyway so won't really get anything done eventhough I go into office. It would be 10 days from the office when I get in Monday...

Chilled out at home, managed to do some work and headed out to Sid's for Happy Hours as Gleeson called personally to invite. Sneaky bugger. It's his birthday the next day and he didn't say a word! He just said jum, Sid's HH?

Sid's was packed full with matsies watching some cricket game. No interest in cricket at all so didn't know what the heck was going on. Left around 7.30pm to have dinner with Carolynn and Su just down the road at Restaurant OK. Chings, Tyng & Farsh couldn't make it otherwise it would be a nice girly gathering. Continued back at Sid's after that.

Birthday boy got sloshed after a while and dissapeared for a bit to puke some radioactive liquid which glowed blue on Deep's camera. Wonder what in the world he drank. He sobered up after that and came back just in time for us to sing him Happy Birthday at the stroke of midnight with cupcakes courtesy of RV & Hema.

My wife will be celebrating her birthday today, 23 July 2009, but we decided to celebrate it a day earlier as most of the girls were free then. Su, being kinda anti-social sometimes, wanted a small gathering. She said she didn’t want the fanfare and she didn’t want the attention (so unlike her other half - ME! hahha).

But that was not to be as more and more people heard about the plans (well, to be honest, we haven’t really firmed up anything like the invite list, venue & time) and they wouldn’t hear of it for a quiet do.

Deep suggested Yuen Steamboat in Sunway Mentari, the buffet steamboat place for less than RM30 a head for all you can eat. There were all sorts of shellfish, fish, crabs, prawns, sotong, chicken wings (yummy!) and whatever you wanted la. I don’t know the actual price cause Zadin secretly took care of the bill before we could pay. Deep brought toddy & I brought tuak.

A total of 16 people turned up for my wifey’s birthday which was so sweet of them. Even though Su wants to portray a ‘Brutal Bitch’ attitude, I know my wifey and I know she was touched by all who turned up. On behalf of Su & Zadin, thank you to Tyng Tyng, Redwan, Farsha, Farah, Deep, Henry, Max, Azim, Reis, Khaidi, Yasmin, Mia & Rubin.

Wifey, hope you had a great night. Thank you for being with me for the past 12 years. Love you very very very much.

Raul's 15 Days & 15 Nights

For my fellow Vang Vien traveller Raul Lee, his normal birthday celebrations include pure alco/party mayhem for 15 days and 15 nights straight. My poor tired body can only take one night out of the whole celebrations so joined Raul at Wabi Sabi, TTDI Plaza, on his 2nd night. Took Farah along with me as an escape plan (cause wanted to leave early. Will be doing Skytrex the next morn).

Went in at 10pm and the club was empty for a Saturday night. Had a very interesting Peach flavoured beer as Wabi Sabi is known for their flavoured beers. They have mango, orange, blueberry and other fruit flavours too. Farah tried the normal lime cordial thingy.

Raul's friends started coming in one by one and by the time it got to half past midnight, there were enough people to make an exit without feeling guilty.
