Godskitchen

Saturday 4 December 2010

My last rave before I fly. That was Farshie's pursuasive argument and I'm glad she talked me into it. The event was Heineken's Thirst featuring Godskitchen, a worldwide electronic music event. These were the lineup.

Got there a bit late as DJ Chuckie, a 32 year old Dutch DJ of Surinamese descent, was playing. Great music from him, quite housy not like the rest which were too progressive hard to layan. Old skool siul.. Check it out.

What I love about the whole setup was the Godskitchen Boombox, a 16m wide, 8m high and 6m deep architectural monster. An "ultramodern edm showcase designed by Paris-based design collective Exyzt, famed for their structural art and design installations across Europe. Wowing crowds from Europe to South Africa to Australia and now KL, the Boombox is a high-concept performance zone that combines 3D graphics projection technology and real time video footage to create a uniquely immersive optical show.”

Visuals were so trippy. They even had KL's skyline flashing in an amazing display of lights and colours, all in full 3D. You could reach out to touch the images coming at you.

Trippy...
All in all, great night. Thank you Farshie, Azim, Rezuan, Ezra, Suzie, Rachel, Hans, Ariff, Max, Shakira, Kenny, Ovidia & Khang for a fantastic night out. Love you guys. xxxox

Sarawak Laksa Lunch & a Blogger Bday Party next

Saturday 1 August 2009

Woke up surprisingly early today even after a night out and decided to pay my cousin Irina in Puchong a visit. Haven’t been to her place in a while. Quite proud of myself that I found her house all by myself - albeit a few wrong turns along the way :P

Boys called for Sarawak laksa so made the slow crawl back along the LDP to BU. Urgh! Curse the bloody cars on the road on a Saturday morning. Don’t you guys have anything else better to do?!! Took me 45 mins to get to BU.

Deep found this food blog that said this hawker place in Taman Megah called Restoran Megah Good Luck (it’s a corner place filled with individual food stalls opposite the big Ming Tien food Court) served Sarawak Laksa just like the real thing.

Reminiscing on the Telang Usan one, we wanted to see if it’s up to par. It’s not too bad la but they used mee hoon instead of Sarawak mee. Soup was pretty alright, bit herbally & spicy, quite similar to Sarawak’s. Didn’t like the sambal. Too watery. Not like the original one at all. Brought tuak to complete the experience. Khang was whacking it in the car even before we stepped into the restaurant.

Went back home straight after and kept myself busy with some house work. Managed to collect a bag of clothes for charity. Yea! More closet space now.

My colleague Michael was hosting a birthday party at his place in Pantai Panorama for Elaine, one of his blogger friends. Party was attended by many other famous bloggers as well. Michael’s place is amazing! Let’s talk about the collection of alcho first. There’s an interesting collection of miniatures & collectibles in a cabinet from Polish Vodka to weird beers. We would have been drunk on the miniatures just alone.

The party table had a variety of stuff too - vodkas, whiskey, brandy, tequilas, kahlua, baileys, sake, soju, wine, tuak, beer, even some egg liquor which tasted like shit by the way. Few other stuff too can’t remember. Michael had a crate of coronas, Heineken, a rack of wines and a cupboard of Hennessy. He’s selling the Hennessy by the way - at RM130 or so per bottle (neg - ask him for exact price I can’t remember but it’s def cheaper than retail) coz he realised he's repenting as an alchoholic and can’t drink everything by himself :P

Miniature collection, booze for the guests

Besides alcho, Mike has cabinets and I mean cabinets FILLED with toys and collectibles. He’s a major fan of Transformers and he has some real serious shit lying around. Autographed posters, figurines of LOTR, X-Files, Batman, vintage classics, a full length Eragon’s sword...(hope I got that right). Don you even dare try & nick any coz he knows where every single thing is. He said he had tons more stored in his cupboard. Just one word - WOW.

Toys galore

Party was not too bad. Had good clean fun playing Jenga + drinking shots & watching this hilarious politically incorrect animation called Robot Chicken. Although I just only met 80% of the people there for the first time, it was a good night.

Cocktales Revealed

Thursday 25 June 09

Deepak launched his blog today! For those who are not aware, Cocktales, by the Thirsty Blogger, is a blog that writes about anything and everything related to alcohol. THE dream job for him. You should check it out. It's creative, informative and totally hilarious.

A toast by the celebrity drinker (He was already drunk by then and it was only 8pm)

The Thirsty Blogger mixing killer drinks for the guest

Modesto's was kind enough to sponsor the venue @ TTDI Plaza, Tong Wah sponsored deadly Absinthes (thanks Michelle!) & Riche Monde, a crate of liquor. Tq Tq Tq.

Quite a lot of people from the drinking industry (er..that's like half of M'sia?) graced the launch. Couldn't recognise Sniffer. He looks so clean! Hahha.

The boys (Khang, Sniffer & Deep) with some unidentified shots

Check out Eddy too!! All cleaned up! We were like, who's this cute Chinese dude? Then potong only when we realised it was Eddy.

Deep popped a champagne (or was it a few?) to my absolute delight. Hey, what can I say? Champagne will do it for me anytime :P Here we are toasting to his new beginnings. And don't my wife look lovely when she wants to?

Few of the girls having a bite. Who says girls don't eat?

Do support him and visit his blog. He's trying to get as much traffic as possible so that he can make this his full time job. Now who wouldn't want to drink for a living?
